It's an ongoing joke, a running gag, a cantering drollery among those closest to me: my knowledge of youtube cat videos. So here, not very reluctantly, is my List.

The Original Maru
In which Maru, once just a tubby house cat and now a meme in his own right, first comes to my attention as a cat worth watching. There are many videos of Maru hiding and running and diving but for me, this early depiction is the most quintessentially Maru. Watch out for his distinctive splayed legs.

The most beautiful thing about this performance is just how present the cat is. So present. So much is conveyed in that slightest of paw-lifts.
